Man, 26, docked over abduction of friend
A 26-year-old man resident in Nyako village of Gombe State has been remanded in prison by a state Upper Area Court over the alleged abduction of his friend.
The accused person, Babawo Bell, was accused of deceiving his friend, one Umar Abubakar, aka Babaji of Madaki village of Kwami Local Government Area, when he allegedly told him that motorcycles were cheap in Ngurore village of Adamawa State.
Abubakar is said to have followed the accused to buy a motorcycle at the said village, only for the accused person to return days later alone.
The police First Information Report (FIR), read to the accused person in court, stated that he was reported by the parents of the missing man, who alleged that he hid under the pretense of cheap motorcycles as a bait to abduct their son.
However, when asked by the court if the allegation is true, the accused pleaded guilty.
Police prosecuting officer, Sergeant Salisu Omale, said the offense was contrary to Section 276 of the Penal Code Law. He applied for new date to enable police finish investigation.
The court, presided over by Malam Zakariya Adamu, granted the application and adjourned the case to January 18 to enable police conclude their investigation. He ordered to accuse to be remanded in prison custody.
