…ALGON also dismisses Niger defection
The Niger State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) says no member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement yesterday, the organisation described the report that over 1000 members from the ruling APC had defected to the PDP in Mashegu, one of the local government areas (LGAs) in Zone C where the incumbent governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, hailed from, as mere fabrication and work of political jobbers seeking relevance in the state.
The state chairman of ALGON and chairman Rafi Local Government Council, Gambo Tanko Kagara, in the statement faulted the report that the ceremony for the decampees took place at Government Secondary School Saho-Rami.
Kagara, who is also the National President of ALGON, said “if indeed they were decampees, the ceremony would have taken place at the opposition party’ s secretariat and not in a secondary school.”
He said Mashegu Local Government Area, which received the highest financial allocation in the state, remained the council with the highest number of developmental projects.
He said the APC administration under Governor Bello had built roads and provided water and other amenities in the local government area.
The ALGON chairman said it was in recognition of the developments in the area that the chairman of the LGC was recently honoured by a national magazine in Abuja.
