The Technical Adviser of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, Gbenga Ogunbote, has said that the club is almost ready for the forthcoming 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The club’s Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, in a statement yesterday, quoted the coach as saying his expectations from the players have almost been met completely.

In a pre-season friendly game played at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode on Wednesday, Rangers thrashed Lagos-based Rising Stars FC, 6-0.

The club had tested another set of players outside the ones used in their first two preseason matches.

“I must say that we are almost there, with regards to what is expected of club as the season approaches.

“We have strong belief that before the start of the season, all that is expected of us shall be in place,” Ogunbote had said.

Okolie said goals from Tayo Fabiyi, Chidera Eze and Abu Azeez who scored a brace had shot the Enugu side to a 4-0 lead before the interval during the friendly.

Ayogu Ekechukwu and Kelvin Itoya scored after the interval to complete the 6-0 mauling of the amateur side from Lagos.

“More pre-season matches still awaits Rangers as coach Ogunbote and his assistants work round the clock to relaunch the team back to the continent,” he added.

Okolie expressed happiness that the club has been able to keep a clean sheet in their three pre-season matches in Ijebu Ode.
