240 to participate in 2018 Qur’anic recitation competition in Bauchi
240 participants drawn from the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State will participate in the 2018 Bauchi State Qur’anic recitation competition.
The competition opened in Kirfi Local Government Area weekend.
Declaring it open, Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kawuwa Shehu Damina, assured of the state government’s continued support towards Islamic education and moral up-bringing of children.
He enjoined the competition organising committee to identify good talents that could perform commendable feat at national competitions.
“Bauchi State candidate in Malaysia became the overall winner out of the 46 nations that participated in that competition. It is a great pride to the entire state and the nation at large,” he said.
He commended the Usman Shehu DanFodio University Sokoto for organising the annual Qur’anic recitation competition, and expressed delight with the state organising committee for its hard work.
Speaking, Chairman of the Qur’anic recitation competition committee, Dr. Zubairu Abubakar Madaki commended the state government for its financial and moral support that culminated to the purchase of prices worth N17 million for winners of the competition.
