APC will win Gwagwalada councillorship byelection -Chairman
The Gwagwalada Area Council chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Hussaini Deze, has boasted that the party will win the councillorship by-election for the central ward. The election is slated for Saturday, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking during an interview with our reporter yesterday, Deze, said the party had embarked on vigorous campaign to mobilize all its members and supporters in the ward to ensure its victory.
He expressed confidence that with the 416 votes already on ground during the last councillorship election, the party’s candidate shall emerge winner whenever the by-election holds.
“I am telling you confidently and without mincing words that since we already have 416 votes on ground, we only need some additional votes come Saturday, and our candidate shall emerge winner, God willing, “he said.
Reacting, the chief press secretary to the chairman of the council, Usman A. Babalado, said the ruling party, APGA, was hopeful of winning the by-election for the councillorship of the central ward come Saturday.
He said the ward was one of the party’s strongholds during the last election, adding that the achievement of the council chairman, Adamu Mustapha, alone would earn the party victory.
“The opposition APC is only boasting because they have 400 votes on ground, but I assure you that APGA shall win because central ward is one of our strongholds,” he said.
It will be recalled that an appeal tribunal late last year nullified four polling units for councillorship of central ward and ordered INEC to conduct a by-election.
