12 family members injured in auto crash at Yaba junction

Twelve family members have been injured in a motor accident which occurred on Saturday evening at Yaba junction, on Abuja - Lokoja road.

A witness said the accident involved a man, his wife, and 10 other family members.

He said the accident occurred at about 6:48p.m. after the driver of a Toyota car with registrati­on number XA 529 XA lost control and crashed into a ditch.

He said the family members were returning from the eastern part of the country after the Christmas and New Year holidays when the accident happened.

He said the rescue team of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) were alerted and came to the scene to evacuate the injured to hospital.

When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the accident, which he attributed to speed limit violation and loss of control.

He said the 12 family members, who comprised of four men, two women, three boys and three girls were taken to Abaji General Hospital for treatment.

He further disclosed that two people were also injured in another accident which happened last Thursday morning near NIPCO filling station in Abaji, on the same road.

He said the accident happened at about 5:05a.m. and involved a Golf car without registrati­on number, which he said was as a result of route violation.

He said the two injured people were also taken to Abaji General Hospital for treatment.
