6 rescued from Anambra building collapse
Six people trapped after a twostorey building collapsed in Aguleri-otu in Anambra East Local Government Area, have been rescued.
Daily Trust gathered that the victims, believed to be casual workers, were under the building when the structure, said to be under construction, caved in.
Witness who blamed the incident on use of substandard materials, said the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) alerted other state agencies, including the Red Cross, to rescue the trapped workers. A director with SEMA, Mr. Chukwudi Onyejekwe, confirmed that six people were rescued from the building.
The Chairman, State Material Testing and Laboratories, Ebosie Ezeoke, alleged that the building was constructed within two months, describing it as highly unprofessional.
He said the samples of the materials used for the building had been collected for technical analysis and further investigation.
