‘Dankwambo didn’t order arrest of Atiku’s aide’
The Gombe State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Nafada, has said that there was never a time Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo ordered the arrest of an aide to a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Gombe, Umar Nafada said it was a lie concocted by some people that were out to fan the embers of disharmony between the governor and the former vice president.
A national daily had on Saturday, January 6, 2018, reported that Ibrahim Bage, the Gombe State Coordinator of the Atiku Care Foundation (ACF), was arrested and had his personal belongings, including phones, a laptop and a camera seized by DSS officials on the orders of Governor Dankwambo.
The report had it that he was later whisked to the government house where the governor allegedly warned him to desist from sensitising members of the public on Atiku’s presidential ambition.
The commissioner said there was never a time Governor Dankwambo victimised or engaged in campaign of calumny against the person of Atiku Abubakar or any politician.
“There has always been good understanding and rapport between Governor Dankwambo and Atiku Abubakar on both political and inter-personal bases. As such, those using any means of smear campaign against our peace-loving governor will never succeed,” he said.
