Aero Maintenance: NCAA to issue certificate of airworthiness on new plane
Aero Contractors which successfully completed a comprehensive check on a Boeing 737 classic aircraft from its Maintenance Organization is awaiting regulatory approval to introduce the new aircraft into its fleet, Daily Trust learnt.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is expected to issue a certificate of airworthiness on the aircraft which C- check was completed last week with a test - run of the aircraft.
The maintenance of the aircraft belonging to Aero was carried out by engineers of the company following the approval of Aero Maintenance Organization (AMO) by NCAA.
Amidst cheers from members of staff, the aircraft was test- run at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
The new aircraft would be added to the fleet of the Airline, the oldest indigenous carrier which is under the control of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
When contacted, Spokesman of the NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye said the authority would issue the C of A in line with industry practice anytime a maintenance check is carried out on an aircraft.
“This is what is done globally and not because it was carried out by Aero Contractors at its AMO in Nigeria. Even if you take your aircraft abroad for maintenance, by the time the plane arrives we would still issue the C of A”, he said.
Asked when the C of A would be issued, Adurogboye said it would be issued when the process for the issuance is completed.
