CHAN Eagles, Cameroon play goalless draw in friendly match

-

Cameroon held Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles to a 0-0 draw in a friendly match in Rabat on Wednesday night.

The game took place at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

The CHAN Eagles certainly had enough possession, but failed to create any clear cut chances in front of goal.

The 2014 African Nations Championship bronze medalists were out of sorts as the several chances the CHAN Eagles had were fluffed with Gabriel Okechukwu the chief culprit.

The Eagles played with no urgency in their play as they approached the game as an ordinary match.

Nigeria started the second half on the front foot but that desire was at no point translated into chances.

And sensing danger coach Yusuf Salisu threw on Ibrahim Mustapha, Emeka Ogbuh and Sunday Faleye.

Still with three strikers on it was Faleye who had the most impact, driving the team forward with Ogbuh and getting stuck deep into tackles.

Ultimately it didn’t make much of a difference. The Eagles will open their 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign on Monday 15th January against Rwanda.

They will take on Rwanda (hosts of the last edition of the competition two years ago) at the Stade Ibn Batouta on Monday, 15th January, starting from 7.30pm (8.30pm Nigeria time), before games against Libya at the same venue on Friday, 19th January (starting from 4.30pm; 5.30pm Nigeria time) and Equatorial Guinea in Agadir on Tuesday, 23rd January (starting 7pm Morocco time; 8pm Nigeria time).
