Winners get cars, tricycles in Bauchi Qur’anic recitation
Winners in the just concluded 2018 Bauchi State Qur’anic recitation competition have won cars, tricycles, motorcycles and other prizes.
The week-long event which closed Saturday was held in Kirfi, headquarters of Kirfi local government area of the state.
60 participants comprising males and females from 20 local government areas of the state emerged winners in six categories.
Amir Yunus from Bauchi LGA and Nafisa Usman from Darazo LGA emerged as overall winners of the competition in the 60 Hizb with tafsir category.
They were followed by Nazib Ahmed Yusuf from Bogoro LGA and Amira Mohammed Sani from Katagum LGA in the 60 Hizb of the Holy Qur’an without tafsir category.
In his address, the Chairman of the Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, Mallam Zubair Abubakar Madaki, disclosed that N53 million was released by the Bauchi state government for the conduct of Qur’anic recitation competition at state and national levels.
He announced that next year’s competition will be staged at Azare, headquarters of Katagum LGA.
Madaki commended the wife of the state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar and the State Grand Khadi, Alhaji Ahmad Rufa’i for their support and the prizes they provided.
He announced that 12 judges would conduct a twoweek training for selected participants preparatory to the national level of the competition billed to commence in Katsina from February 2.
Speaking, Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar congratulated the committtee, judges, participants, and officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the successful conduct of the competition.
