Three star players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Kelly Kester, Dennis Nya (Akwa United) and Plateau United attacking midfielder, Raphael Ayagwa had fantastic outings as each scored in their debut appearances.

While Kester joined the ‘Promise Keepers’ of Uyo from rivals Enyimba FC of Aba, Dennis Nya joined from Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

Ayagwa a member of the Home-Based Super Eagles joined reigning champions Plateau United from Lobi Stars.

Interestingly the trio were the heroes for their clubs as they scored the decisive goals that gave victories to their new clubs.

In Uyo, hard tackling defensive midfielder, Kester opened scores in the 40th minute before the former Lobi Stars man Nya made it two for Akwa United in the 65th minute to ensure the ‘Promise Keepers’ recorded their first win over Enugu Rangers in three seasons.

And in Lafia, when it appeared the match was going to be stalemated with three minutes left to play, Plateau United’s new kid on the block, Ayagwa connected former junior international King Osanga’s pull out to break the hearts of Nasarawa United fans.

After the explosive encounter, Ayagwa told Daily Trust that he was happy that he scored on his debut for his new club.

“It was a special moment for all of us. I am happy that I scored on my debut for Plateau United. The goal gave us the maximum points and that is the most interesting aspect of it.

“I hope to score more goals for my club. Our target is to defend the title we won last year,” he said.
