‘Nigeria earned N144.7bn from cashew exports in 2017’
The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) says Nigeria earned N144.7 billion ($402 million) from the export of raw cashew nuts to Vietnam and other countries in 2017.
Mr Sotonye Anga, the spokesman of the association, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Anga said 220,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts were exported to Vietnam, Please editor, I will like to know how grass can be grown and who will buy it?
Mrs. Taylor Response
Madam, check our write up on ‘Readily available grasses that farmers can grow’ in our today’s edition. It explains planting methods. Harvested grasses can be sold to livestock farm owners across the country.

India and China between February and December 2017.
“The latest development has been interesting because just last week, we got Nigeria’s final export position from Vietnam, which was quite revealing.
“Out of the 220,000 tonnes of exported raw cashew nuts, Vietnam accounted for 181,753 tonnes, while 38,247 tonnes went to India, China and other countries in the last 11 months.”
Inadequate water has been the major challenge facing dry season farmers in Katsina State, your write up last week was timely and I do hope the authorities will act fast. Thanks a lot.

I really don’t think this administration is serious about cocoa production. Farmers of this crop have been complaining of fake inputs being given to them by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture but nothing seems to have been done to address this. May God save this country.
Olalekan Adebayo, Owo, Ondo State Response
Thank you Olalekan, this issue is examined in our today’s edition with the hope that all the concerned stakeholders will do the needful to address the situation.

Editor, many thanks for your response to my letter. Last Thursday, January 5, 2018, edition was really a loaded one. I am a plant lover, it has caught my interest and I can’t wait for the follow-up edition on their planting spacing.
