Buhari, Saraki, Badaru, others mourn ex-CJN
President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled the government and people of Jigawa State over the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher.
The president’s condolence was contained in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina.
Buhari commiserated with the Kano and Ringim Emirate Councils, professional colleagues, family members and friends of the eminent jurist.
He said the deceased’s contributions to the structure, letter and spirit of the nation’s constitution and legal practice would always be remembered and greatly appreciated by generations.
Senate President Bukola Saraki also described the late former Musdapher as a respected jurist, who spent his life in the service of his state, country and humanity.
Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated that the passage of the legal giant was a monumental loss to the judiciary in particular and Nigeria in general.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has also mourned the death of Justice Dahiru Musdapher.
The APC, in a release issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the death of the late Justice Musdapher as a “sad and painful” loss to the family; his home state, Jigawa; the country’s judicial community and the entire nation.
Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru described late Justice Dahiru Musdapher as a man of integrity who struggled for the independence of the judiciary.
The governor in a statement issued yesterday in Dutse by his media aide, Bello Zaki, said the state and Nigeria had lost an elder who made resourceful contributions to nation building.
On his part, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State condoled with the family of the late former CJN.
“In work or in retirement, Justice Musdapher exemplified all that was good and commendable about the legal profession. In the service of truth, justice and fairness, he made his mark,” the governor said in a message of condolence issued by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam.
