Police kill 3 kidnap kingpins in Owerri

Operatives of the Special Antirobber­y Squad (SARS) in Owerri, the Imo State capital, have killed three notorious kidnappers who abducted some prominent businessme­n in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Andrew Enwerem, said in Owerri that the kidnappers had on 13/12/2017 abducted one Chief Linus Anyaghara and his driver Cosmi Mbachu and one Vitalis Ogohe and dispossess­ed them of a Toyota Sequoia jeep.

He said that the suspects had also on 13/01/2018 kidnapped one Obinwanne Agugum who returned from South Africa and his driver, Chima.

The PPRO said that subsequent upon the marching orders given by the Police Commission­er, Chris Ezike, some of the suspects were arrested and they led the police to various hideouts and detention facilities.

He added that in the process of the arrest, the suspects engaged the police in a shootout and were seriously wounded, stressing that they were later confirmed dead.

He gave their names as Chetachi Ogbonna, Chidera Nzeagwu, aka Pharaoh of Nwaotu of Umuopara Amuzu Obingwa in Mbaitoli local government area, Chinwendum Sylvester of Olori Amaraku, Isials Mbano local government area .

Others are Okoro Uchechukwu of Umuerenenw­anyi Iseke Awo Omamma of Oru RU East and Collins Ezinwa aka CHAIR (e-money) of Umuchieze Umunneochi L.G.A.of Abia state.
