- By Saawua Terzungwe

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ‘Fresh PDP’, has set up an interim parallel National Working Committee (NWC) to steer its affairs.

The latest move has rubbished the much publicised reconciliation between handlers of ‘Fresh PDP’ and the national leadership of the PDP.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Abuja, the Interim National Chairman of ‘Fresh PDP’, Prince Obi-Nwosu Emmanuel Butches, said the faction would organise an elective national convention after its membership registration which would be done electronically.

He also said those who announced the collapse of ‘Fresh PDP’ into the mainstream PDP had compromised, insisting that he and few others formed the faction and would stand firmly until the right thing was done.

The interim NWC members as announced by Butches are: Hon. Osukuade Sowemiko (deputy national chairman, South), Alhaji Abubakar Muslim (deputy national chairman, North), Alhaji Gamawa Muhammad Ibrahim (secretary), Rodney Odili-Obi (organising secretary), Ambassador Waziri Umar (financial secretary), and Barr. Chidi Onwuekweikpe (legal adviser).

Similarly, Chief Chuks Eze occupies the office of youth leader, Hajira Mohammed (women leader), Suleiman Tahir (deputy national youth leader), Festus Itoya (deputy financial secretary), and Ugomma Donald (deputy national secretary).

Others are: Alhaji Aminu Shuaibu (zonal chairman, North East), Dr.Yusuf Ilya (zonal chairman, North West), Stephen Owoicho Ameh (zonal chairman, North Central), Ransome Rotimi Ojo (zonal chairman, South West), Engr. Onyeka Ezeghalike (zonal chairman, South East), and Dr. Alexander Ebipua-Koinyan (zonal chairman, South South).

Apart from the NWC members, the faction also announced that 11 others were in its fold with Chief DSP Ikporo and Alhaji Ibrahim Jonathan appointed as ex officio members.

Butches said with the composition of the interim NWC “the long wait for a truly rebranded PDP” was over.
