- By Philip Shimnom Clement

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts in improving entrepreneurial development by deploying advanced technologies to make business outfits compete with their contemporaries in advanced countries.

ICAN President Isma’ila Zakari made the call at the institute’s entrepreneurship and capacity building forum in Abuja.

Zakari said the entrepreneurship still remains a key component in scoring essential development in any nation, especially developing ones.

“The institute’s initiative is aimed at designing strategy for employment creation and building capacity in strategic skill development, but admitted that technological advancement will play a key role in achieving it as we drive towards economic progress,” he added.

In his remarks, director Human Capital Management and Development of the FIRS, Victor Ekundayo, emphasised that entrepreneurs take opportunity of situations to add value of which technology is an integral part in order to make business easy and flexible.

Ekundayo added that some of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, like inadequate access to capital and infrastructure, is being addressed through various intervention by lending institutions like the Bank of Industry and the Tony Elumelu foundation.
