The police yesterday arraigned two lawyers before a Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court over alleged forgery and impersonation.
The two legal practitioners, Nsikak Udoh and Farouk Khamgham, face a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and giving false information with intent to mislead the public.

The prosecutor, Adama Musa, told the court that one Miss Juliet Aiyedogbon of Gwarinpa, Abuja, petitioned the InspectorGeneral of Police on May 27, 2016 and the matter was transferred to the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command. He said the complainant’s mother, one Mrs Charity Aiyedogbon, had disappeared in 2016.
The prosecutor said that police investigations, revealed that Udoh and Khamgham conspired and forged an affidavit and deposed to same pretending to be the complainant’s missing mother.
Musa said the two deposed to the affidavit before the commissioner of oath at the Federal High Court, Abuja and they misled the police by saying Mrs Aiyedogbon was in court in person.
He said that the offences contravened sections 97, 364, 179, 158 and 178 of the Penal Code.
The defence counsel, Edwin Inegedu, prayed the court to grant his clients bail on the most liberal terms.
Magistrate Mabel Bello granted bail to the defendants on self-recognition and adjourned the matter until March 30 for hearing. (NAN)
