- By Ojoma Akor

The Medicaid Cancer Foundation has donated N2 million to 10 indigent cancer patients in Kebbi State.

A statement from the foundation at the weekend said cheques of various amounts were presented to the beneficiaries by the coordinator of the foundation, Dr Suraya Mansur at the Medicaid Radio-Diagnostic Centre, Birnin Kebbi.

Medicaid Cancer Foundation is an-eightyear-old non-governmental organization that raises funds all year round through organising charity activities such as walks and football tournaments, and receives donations from corporate bodies and well meaning individuals. Such funds are then disbursed to indigent cancer patients across Nigeria.

The beneficiaries received cheques ranging from N100, 000 to N250,000 depending on the patient’s needs and recommended treatment, such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Dr Mansur thanked sponsors and supporters of the organization, saying the foundation would not relent in its efforts to assist cancer patients across the country.

She added that a second disbursement to cancer patients would be made in Abuja early this week.

The beneficiaries thanked the foundation and its founder, the wife of the Kebbi state governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu for giving them the chance to beat cancer.
