2019: MPN elects new excos

- From Jeremiah Oke, Ibadan

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections in 2019, Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) at the weekend in Abuja held its third national convention and elected national officers for the next four years, the National Secretary of the party, Otunba Leke Adekoya, has said.

Adekoya said the third convention of the party hitherto known as Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP) produced a Kadunabased frontline politician, Senator Musa Bello as National Chairman; Prof. Adiele Chinedum, Deputy National Chairman (South); and Otunba Leke Adekoya (Ogun State), National Secretary.

Other officers, according to him, were Mrs Chinwe Chika (National Woman Leader); National Organising Secretary, Abanitus Dangiri; National Legal Adviser, Adelaja Oguntimirin; National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Ali Baba Akano and National Treasurer, Hon Akanni Olayinka; among others.

Adekoya said the change in logo, from MPPP to MPN and the amendment of some sections of its constitution, according to the Convention Committee, was geared towards rebranding and refocusing the party to reflect the true wish of all Nigerians.

He said that the party was set “to take over reign of governance in 2019”.

Speaking on the manifesto, the party’s national chairman, Senator Bello, who was flanked by Adekoya at a briefing in Ibadan, said what Nigerians deserved in 2019 was a total break from the past mistakes and leadership failure that continued to threaten the very fabric of the nation’s foundation and development.
