Management of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has appealed to Nigerian government to include it among universities where TETFUND is sponsoring post graduate programmes of Nigerian lecturers.

The appeal is contained in a letter addressed to Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and made available to Daily Trust in Malaysia.

UUM was delisted in 2016 by TETFUND for not being among top five universities in Malaysia. Over 300 Nigerian students are at present in UUM.

In the letter, UUM’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak asserted that UUM is a specialized university and the best university in management studies with several international collaboration and accreditations from reputable academic and professional organizations.

He disclosed that “UUM is now ranked 7th and 131 in Malaysia and Asia respectively in 2018 by the QS Asia Universities Ranking. These achievements have placed UUM as one of the top 1% of 11, 900 universities in Asia. Furthermore we were ranked as the 200+ in the Asia Pacific by the Times Higher Education World University Ranking in 2017.

“The College of Business, UUM has also obtained the prestigious AACSB (Association to Advance Colligate School of Business) in 2016 and our MBA programme is also accredited by the AMBA (Association of MBAs)”.

The VC Nigerian government through TETFUND and other agents to continue to sponsor urged students to the university to benefit from the facilities, experience and other benefits of the “Eminent Management University”.

Some Nigerians institutions that have collaboration agreement with UUM include Institute of Charted Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Bayero University (BUK), Kano State Polytechnic and Kaduna Polytechnic.
