Plateau Utd’s target is CAF Champions League trophy - Boboye
Integrity, justice will be our watchwords - Mustapha
Plateau United Coach, Kennedy Boboye has said that the target set by his club is to win this year’s CAF Champions League trophy. Boboye disclosed this yesterday in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust at Zaria Road Stadium in Jos.
The Nigerian representatives will host Cameroon’s Edin Sport in the first leg of the CAF Champions League at the Zaria Road Stadium in Jos on Sunday.
He said, “We want to play in the finals and possibly win the trophy, it is doable, it is about hardworking and having full concentration, and we can do it.”
Boboye boasted that his players would replicate their performance in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) during their clash with Edin Sport.
“That’s what we are working on and our match is coming against a team from Cameroun. And we need a massive result that would take us to next round even before the second leg would be played,” he said.
He rated Edin Sport as a compact and well organised side, but said his team would work hard to crack them.
“They have been playing some friendly games, and I watched them play in Cameroun and they also played a friendly match in Angola. I don’t want to use their league that is not on to judge them. They are a good side, they are compact but my team would open them so that we can get massive result,” Boboye concluded. The new President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Board of Appeal, Nigeria’s Barrister Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN) has assured that his board will employ integrity and justice to all as watchwords during its tenure.
Speaking in Abuja, the former Chairman of the NFF Electoral Committee said: “I want to first and foremost, thank the NFF President, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, for making this possible. I never lobbied for the job and I never even knew that I was being considered. Perhaps, the big roles that AITEO continue to play in Nigerian Football and at CAF level brought one to prominence. I thank Mr. Benedict Peters (President, AITEO) for his service to football.
“For me, the approach to this new assignment will be simple: integrity will be at the front-burner. A lot of people who know me can vouch for me on this. More importantly, we will follow the rules dispassionately to deliver justice to all.”
A legal practitioner immense of over two decades, Mustapha has excelled in various assignments in Nigerian football as well as in using strategic thinking to run diverse businesses.
He has attended reputable international institutions including the Harvard Business School (USA), Manchester Business School, Suffolk Law School (both in the United Kingdom) and the Business School Netherlands in The Hague. He has served in the National Sports Commission (Chairman, National Appeals Committee), the NFF (Chairman, NFF Electoral Committee & Deputy Chairman, NFF Committee for Ethics and Fairplay) and the League (Member, Organizing and Disciplinary Committee).
