The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has concluded arrangements for the conduct of elections in all the 44 local government areas of the state tomorrow.

The Chairman KANSIEC, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka, said non-sensitive election materials had been distributed to all the local government areas, while sensitive materials would be distributed today.

Professor Sheka said necessary arrangements ranging from posting of electoral officers, provision of logistics and election materials and security had been made to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

Daily Trust also gathered that 25 political parties, including leading opposition party, PDP, are expected to participate in tomorrow’s elections.

Similarly, 12, 000 security personnel have been reportedly deployed to the 44 local government areas to man the elections.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, the Kano State police spokesman, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said the security personnel included police, military, DSS, NSCDC, immigration, customs, prisons, NDLEA and FRSC.

Majia, however, said no state government-owned security apparatus such as Hisbah, KAROTA or voluntary organisations such as vigilantes, Boys’ Scout and Man ‘O’ War would be allowed to wear uniforms or engage in any activity in uniform on the day of the elections.
