Drama as Jagaba announces self as PDP member
There was a mild drama on the floor of the House of Representatives yesterday when a supposed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jagaba Adams Jagaba, announced himself as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Jagaba, who represents Kachia/ Kagarko Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, was voted to the House under the ruling APC in 2015. He recently announced in Kaduna that he was dumping the party for the opposition PDP.
However, he was yet to make a formal announcement to that effect, which was supposed to be presented to Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who will then read it at a plenary.
However, Jagaba, while introducing himself preparatory to making a contribution on a motion said, “I’m Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba and I’m of the PDP.”
But Dogara immediately said, “No, no, Jagaba. You can’t do this to me.”
The development made the PDP members on the floor to chant “PDP, PDP” in jubilation while their APC counterparts shouted “No, no.”
An APC member from Kwara State, Zakari Mohammed, wanted to raise a point of order against Jagaba’s statement but he was later asked to take his seat.
The comotion lasted for some minutes before normalcy returned.
Dogara then remarked that, “The truth is that I’m not aware and the house is not aware. As a ranking member, you know what to do. So, as far as we’re concerned, you’re still a member of APC.”
