DSO: Pinnacle commences work on Gombe, Delta – NBC

- By Zakariyya Adaramola

One of the signal distributor companies in the country, Pinnacle Communications Limited has moved to site to start work on the Gombe and Delta digital broadcast switch over, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has said.

The NBC Director General Malam Is’haq Moddibo Kawu disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust in his office in Abuja.

Daily Trust reports that one of the benefits for switching off analogue broadcasting to digital is that more spectrums will be available for use in the telecom sector, and this will make broadband ubiquitous across the country.

Mal Moddibo Kawu said Pinnacle had moved to site in Delta State, and had also packed up for work in Gombe state to accelerate the digital switch over process across the country.

“I can categorically tell that the second signal distributor, Pinnacle Communications Limited, has moved to site in Delta State, and are also packed up for work in Gombe State,” he said.

The NBC DG said the commission had also scheduled to switch on six more states, one each from the six geo-political regions this year.

He said the NBC had already scheduled today 12th of February 2018 for the switch on for Enugu state.

Similarly, he added, February 23rd has been affirmed for the switch on in Osun state.

According to him, NBC envisages that by the end of the third quarter of 2018, it would have switched on in 12 states around Nigeria.

“We are steadily implementing this new digital broadcasting process. I will like to commend stakeholders in the implementation process for the new resolve to work together towards a common good. The new resolve has given the process the needed impetus,” he said.
