- From Kehinde Akinyemi, Abeokuta

Aself-professed Lagosbased pastor has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for alleged armed robbery.

Daniel Onwugbufor, who claimed to be the General Overseer of God’s Favour Ministry, Iba in Lagos, was arrested along with one Israel Animashaun last week by men of FSARS, the command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said yesterday.

The spokesman said the arrests followed series of car snatching reports which the command had been trying to unravel and smash the syndicate.

“The efforts paid off when one of the snatched cars, a Lexus RX 330 jeep was tracked down to Onwugbufor at his Iba residence consequence upon which he was arrested.

“This arrest led to that of Animashaun who is an active member of a three-man gang of armed robbers that specialised in snatching of exotic cars at gun point.

“On interrogation, Animashaun confessed that he and two others snatched the Lexus jeep at gun point at Ajah in Lagos and took it to Onwugbufor who used to help them in selling such items.

“He stated further that he was only paid N350,000 for the car after using it for two weeks before he sent it to his other accomplice in Onitsha who is still at large.

“He also informed the police that he once robbed somebody of a Galaxy Samsung handset which Onwugbufor bought forN35,000 from him.”

Oyeyemi said the ‘pastor’ who first denied knowing Animashaun to be an armed robber, later confessed when confronted by Animashaun and blamed his action on the devil.
