The NPFL champions ended the ill-tempered match with 10 players following the expulsion of Benin Republic international, Salomon Junior in the added minutes of the second half. the maximum

The win has lifted Enyimba to the fifth place on the table just as Plateau United still retain their second place despite the loss.

Speaking to Daily Trust after the match, Plateau United midfielder, Raphael Ayagwa said it was a keenly contested match.

He said players from both sides gave a good account of themselves.

The former Lobi Stars player also said Plateau United deserved at least a point from the match.

“It was not an easy match because the two teams played very well. We wanted the three points but Enyimba did everything to win.

“Without taking anything from Enyimba, I want to say the match should have ended in a draw.

“Going by our performance, we should have left Calabar with at least a point but that is football. It is not mandatory for the better side to win always,” he said.

Enyimba will next travel Kano to face Pillars this weekend while Plateau United will welcome Rangers to the New Jos township stadium.
