Ramat Cup: Kaduna, Kebbi, Lagos record victories over opponents

Kaduna U-16 team to this year’s Ramat Cup holding in Kano yesterday brightened their chances of advancing to the next state with 4-0 victory against their counterpar­ts from Kogi State.

Harrison Abel scored a brace while Daniel John and Gabriel Onoja scored a goal each to hand Kaduna State the important victory.

Kogi State will take on Ogun today in a match which may decide their fate just as Kaduna will trade tackles with Ogun state team later in the day to decide which team progresses to the second round.

In the other matches played, Plateau defeated Bauchi 1-0 courtesy of Najib Manchi strike in the 27th minute of the game.

Kebbi State also outplayed Bayelsa 3-0 with goals from Abdulkarim Sani, Zakare Gambo and Musa Shehu in the first half of the one sided encounter.

Adamawa came from behind to beat Taraba 2-1, with Benjamin Tabubu putting the boys from Jalingo ahead in the 8th minute of play while Kabiru Lawal equalised in the 15th minute and gave his side the winning goal in the 40th minute of the encounter.

Lawan Mohammed”s goal was all what Lagos needed to be on the advantage against Yobe, as the game ended 1-0 in favour of Lagos

Nasarawa, Katsina, Rivers and Sokoto teams have already booked their places in the second round of the competitio­n.

Nasarawa and Katsina qualified from Group B following the withdrawal of Gombe from the competitio­n due to the disqualifi­cation of 13 of their players.

Sokoto and Rivers are the two teams in Group H, and will play against each other tomorrow, to determine who will top the table.
