Ogun Customs command impounds 2018 model vehicle with N51m duty value
The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Ogun State command, has impounded a 2018 model of a Range Rover car with a duty paid value (DPV) of N51 million.
The exotic vehicle was among 12 others intercepted yesterday by men and officers of the command, which were paraded before newsmen at the Sentry base, Idi Iroko.
The Ogun State NCS Comptroller, Sani Madugu, who briefed newsmen, described the interception of the Range Rover as “the seizure of the month”.
He explained that the vehicle was intercepted in one of the smugglers’ routes around Ifo, where it was abandoned by the smugglers.
“The said vehicle has a DPV of N51,285,154. Despite this development and given the tottering nature of the operational environment, we will not relent. We will continue to stand firm and resolute in discharging the statutory responsibilities bestowed upon us as a Service with dedication, selflessness and uncompromising commitment,” Madugu said.
Other seizures recorded in the period under review, according to Madugu, included 1,168 bags of 50kg rice, 221 of 50kg vegetable oil, 12 means of conveyance, 21 motorcycles, five sacks of second-hand clothes and two sacks of second-hand bags.
He put the total DPV of the seized items, including the vehicles, at N153,858,579,153.
