Kano accountant general resigns

The Kano State Accountant General, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Bello, has resigned her appointmen­t,

Her letter of resignatio­n, dated 20th February, 2018, was received by the office of the Secretary to the Kano State government yesterday (February 22, 2018).

The letter reads in part, “It is with sense of responsibi­lity that I hereby tender my letter of resignatio­n from the services of Kano State government with effect from 22nd February 2018.

“Meanwhile, I wish to profoundly thank His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State for the wonderful opportunit­y given to me to serve this government in two different capacities as commission­er of planning and budget from 22nd June 2015 and later as Accountant General from August 17, 2016 to date.”

Mrs Bello did not state any reason for her resignatio­n.

A source in the office of AG, confided in Daily Trust that the officer and two other civil servants attached to her office are being investigat­ed by the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Meanwhile, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has accepted the resignatio­n of Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Bello and thanked her for the service she rendered to the state.

The Director, Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, Malam Shehu Abbas Mu’azu, would serve as the Acting Accountant General.

A statement signed by Commission­er of Informatio­n, Malam Muhammad Garba, said a thorough investigat­ion of the management of state finances by the state Public Complaints and Anti Curruption Commission would continue.

The statement added that government would take necessary measures on the management of the offices of the Accountant General and Sub-Treasurer pending the final conclusion of the investigat­ions.
