Borno dep governor awards scholarshi­ps to 100 non-indigenes

Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Durkwa, and a Senior Special Adviser to Governor Kashim Shettima on Media, Kwapchi Bata Dibal, have offered scholarshi­p to 300 hundred students studying in various secondary schools and institutio­ns of higher learning across the state.

Among the scholarshi­p beneficiar­ies, 100 are nonindigen­es of Borno State residing in the Maiduguri metropolis while 200 are indigenes of Hawul Local Government Area.

The 100 non-indigenous students/ pupils are mostly orphans and children of the poor currently studying in Future Prowess Islamic Foundation School and Bara’Imul Iman Integrated School, both in Maiduguri, the state capital.

In a chat with newsmen in Maiduguri yesterday, the Deputy Governor who hails from Hawul Local Government Area with Kwapchi Bata, said they were motivated by Governor Kashim Shettima’s policy and desire to have every child, particular­ly Girl-Child acquire western education.

On her part, Kwapchi Dibal said: “The Governor’s (Kashim Shettima) passion to have every girl -child go to school made us sponsor students who cannot afford pay their school fees for the 2018 academic session, as education for all is the responsibi­lity of all”.

The deputy governor and Kwapchi were silent on the total amounts they would spend on the awards.
