ITF trains 300 on business skills in Bayelsa
The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Bayelsa area office has empowered 300 youth of the state trained under its National Industrial skills Development Programme (NISP) on skills acquisition with starter packs and other equipment to start their trades.
The 300 trainees cut across various trades, such as tailoring, fashion designed, welding and fabrication and plumbing and pipe fitting works, which will help boost the entrepreneurial investment in the state.
The Area Manager of ITF for Bayelsa State, Mr Sampson Kolawole disclosed this yesterday, while presenting equipment to the beneficiaries, during the graduation and closing ceremony for the 2017 National Industrial Development programme in Yenagoa.
Kolawole also disclosed that out of the 300 trainees, 188 were trained on tailoring/ fashion design, 65 were trained on welding/ fabrication and 45 on plumping and pipe fitting.
He said, “All the trainees were also trained on entrepreneurial development, so that it will imbibe on them the spirit of entrepreneurship for national development.”
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (Rtd), said the state government have been collaborating with ITF and other organizations to train Bayelsa youths to have responsibilities to earn a living.
The Director General of Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Sir Joseph Ari was represented by Engr Peter Agu, a director of corporate planning and research in the organization.
