FG spending billions to complete major projects in Kano — Fashola

The Federal Government has approved the release of billions of naira to complete major projects in Kano State, Ministry of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has said.

Engineer Busari Sikirulla Olalekan said this during an inspection visit to various federal government­s’ ongoing projects in the state.

According to him, most of the projects were being carried out under the FG’s emergency interventi­on scheme to projects that needs urgent attention.

He said one of such project is the repairs of over 30 year-old Tamburawa Bridge which poses as a threat to motorists flying Kano-Kaduna road.

“The government had taken prompt action by approving N1.89 billion for the repairs and a greater percentage of the repairs have been concluded, and by May the repairs will be completed,” said Engineer Busari.

“We have gone to inspect the emergency repairs of Kano to Zaria road, the Tamburawa bridge, Kano to Wudil road dualisatio­n, the western by-pass kilometre 8 bridge neglected for over 10 years, Inna Kurum bridge, Kano to Katsina road dualizatio­n and the federal government housing program at Jaba. All these are projects being executed by the present federal government administra­tion in Kano state,” he said.
