Robbers attack mining company, shoot expatriate

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Plateau State has arrested two suspected robbers who allegedly attacked a Chinese mining company and shot one expatriate in the operation.

The state commandant, Olasupo A. Solomon, who paraded the suspects alongside two others arrested for possession of illegal arms and ammunition­s, said “suspected armed robbers attacked Chinese mining company Ltd in Wase LGA with sophistica­ted weapons and one Chinese national, Lil Kangze was shot in the leg.”

He said upon investigat­ion, Kattim Karnak and Selchang Zwalnan were arrested.

“Others are on the run and our personnel are on their trail. However, the items recovered from the suspects are a laptop, phone, power bank, torch, 11 ATM cards, ID cards of their victims, a diary and charms,” he said.

Narrating how the other two a suspects were arrested, Solomon said, “Abubakar Isah, 30, and his accomplice Timchang Selfa, 32, were on their way from Zango village in Kanam LGA of Plateau State where they had gone to deliver guns to one Mallam Saidu of Zangi village.

“A passerby who noticed them invited the vigilante group in the area and the vigilante apprehende­d the suspects, after being attacked by angry mob and took them to the house of a traditiona­l ruler. The traditiona­l ruler in turn requested the NSCDC to take up the case.

“The items recovered from them included a locally fabricated riffle, 6.8 mm life ammunition, charms and an old red coloured motorcycle.”
