NSCDC arrests 12 suspects over oil theft
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 12 suspects over alleged oil bunkering in Port Harcourt and other neighbouring communities in Rivers State.
The Rivers State Commandant of NSCDC, Haruna Muhammed who disclosed this while displaying impounded trucks loaded with adulterated petroleum products and crude oil at the Command’s dump site, said the suspects were involved in conveying adulterated AGO and crude oil in trucks.
He said they are already facing prosecution in court.
Muhammed said the command between January and February, 2018 impounded two trucks loaded with suspected crude oil, several sacks loaded with suspected AGO, a tug boat of several compartments and a wooden boat loaded with 67 drums of suspected AGO.
He said, “All in all we arrested about 12 suspects and they are already being arraigned in court. On January 9, a suspect was arrested at Ogbakiri 1 with suspected adulterated AGO in a 40,000 liters truck”
“On January 23, four suspects with two long trucks loaded with suspected adulterated AGO, about 40,000 litres each was arrested at Bori. On January 25 a suspect with long tanker truck loaded with 40,000 liters of adulterated petroleum products was arrested at Ogbakiri”
“On 27th January, 2018, a suspect was arrested with a long tanker truck loaded with about 33,000 liters of suspected adulterated AGO at waterlines Junction”
“On February 6, at Iwofe road a Sienna bus loaded with several sacks of adulterated AGO was impounded. On February 14, a tug boat of seven compartments, three compartments loaded with suspected adulterated AGO was impounded at Oshiry Eastern by pass.”
