Handwritten Qur’an committee presents copy to Gaidam
A committee of Islamic scholars that scrutinized the handwritten Qur’an (Khattul Barnawy) to ensure compliance with rules and standard of Qur’anic Science, has presented a smooth copy to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.
The National chairman of the committee, Sheikh Sheriff Ibrahim Sale, said the committee had examined the content of the Khattul Barnawy handwritten Qur’an in all its technicalities and compared it with the Uthmanic text that is acceptable to the Islamic world.
Saleh, who was represented by the coordinating chairman, Lawan Abba Shettima, said the committee’s work had corrected some punctuations made by some scholars in the Khattul Barnawy to ease reading and memorization of the Holy Qur’an.
Responding to the committee, Governor Gaidam commended the three writers of the Khattul Barnawy over being selected among hundreds of erudite scholars.
He said the work would not only give additional impetus to the art and science of memorizing and preserving the Holy Qur’an in its original form but would also encourage the development of related fields of Islamic calligraphy.
“Alhamdulillah, a significant step has now been taken and therefore successes will be at hand through these thousands of copies of the Holy Qur’an from this noble initiative which will be produced for distribution to Tsangaya schools, Ulamas, Masjids and some individuals,” Gaidam said.
