DPR enforces fuel price in Kaduna rural communities
The Kaduna Zonal office of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has said it has taken the war against fuel scarcity to rural communities in the zone with a view to ensuring the product is accessible and sold at the government approved price.
Speaking yesterday when a team from the Kaduna Regional office of Media Trust Limited (MTL) paid a courtesy visit to the DPR, the Zonal Operations Controller, Alhaji Isah Tafida, said the role of media could not be overemphasised because “anything that you do if the media does not carry it, hardly do people know what you are doing.”
Represented by the Head, Operations, Ibrahim Chiroma, the controller said DPR had been doing a lot of work that had gone unnoticed due to lack of media coverage.
He said, “We have gone round because of the scarcity and we made it a duty to go round and ensure that wherever there is Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), it is sold to the public and at the right price. It was a tedious exercise and the worse part of it is when you put in your best, some still call and inform us of scarcity and we ensure that we answer all calls. So if there is no coverage, Nigerians will not know the kind of effort we put in to bring the situation under control.”
On his part, the Regional Manager, MTL, Isa Danjuma, said the visit was aimed at familiarising with major stakeholders in the society in order to create formidable partnership that would be of benefit to both companies and the society at large.
