Youth president promotes entrepreneurship in Plateau
The newly inaugurated President of Aten Youth Movement (AYM) of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Song Muru has vowed to promote entrepreneurship, and self-employment among youth.
Song, who holds a master’s degree in Economics from University of Abuja emerged the president after elections held in the community recently.
During his acceptance speech, Song pledged that he and his team would work towards uniting the people, protect their heritage against external aggression and ensure they promote the cultural heritage of the Aten Nation so as not to go into extinction.
He also called on youths to be to be industrious and be useful to themselves and the society.
Song who observed that Ganawuri District is blessed with rivers and has great agricultural potentials and advantages called on youths to embrace agriculture especially dry season farming.
He also urged them stay away drugs, indolence for socioeconomic development of the area.
“We want to improve agriculture in our area especially dry season farming through deliberate efforts motivated, support through empowerment the Youth to venture into the scheme”.
“We wish to make a community based scheme where we build a resource centre and use the centre to train 10,000 youth yearly starting from this year” he said.
“Our target is young women. We will empower and train them to be self-reliant to discourage them from early marriages. My campaign was all about self-employment and I hope to achieve that” he said.
