Niger dep gov to Sen Umaru: You’re a desperate politician

- From Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, Minna

The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmad Muhammad Ketso, has berated the Senator representing Niger East, David Umaru, for criticising the current administration, describing him as a “desperate politician.”

Media reports recently quoted Umaru who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Rights as alleging that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello failed the people and did not therefore deserve a second term.

Ketso, also, described Senator Umaru as a “disgruntled” politician who did not see good in others, but himself, adding that the federal lawmaker was always blindfolded by his governorship ambition.

He said the current administration would not be distracted from the ongoing effort to provide the dividend of democracy to Nigerlites by Senator Umaru who he said had never respected any leadership of the state since the inception of democratic rule in 1999.

He argued that Umaru’s comment over his second term endorsement by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a special congress was aimed at achieving cheap political goal.

He said Senator Umaru was attempting to disrupt the zoning arrangement in the state when it was clear that his Zone B constituency had completed eight years, while Zone C was running its turn in the governorship rotation arrangement.

“David Umaru has failed to build political structure since 2007. He has now resorted to using ethnic associations that have no political potentials,” he added.
