Ogu ecstatic as Chinasa-Duru wins Para-Athletics Championship
@shagcy The newly elected President of the Para-Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Geoffrey Ogu has described the performance of Nigeria’s Goodness ChinasaDuru at the 2018 Para-Athletics Championship in Dubai as phenomenal.
Chinasa-Duru won gold and emerged the world champion in the shot-put, in the classification F44, 45, 46 and 64 events.
She threw a distance metres, to clinch gold Championship in Dubai.
Reacting to the feat, Dr. Ogu congratulated the athlete and her coach for doing the Para-Athletics Federation and the country proud, adding, “I’m quite excited by her performance. By the kind of result she posted, she has become the best athlete not only in Nigeria but Africa.
“And I equally believe of at 9.63 the that her performance will spur paraathletes at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.”
He further expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports for the sponsorship and support extended to the championathlete and her coach.
The para-athletics leader noted that the global feat posted by Goodness Duru represents a significant and symbolic “Flagship” for his Federation which would surely provide the desired tonic for Duru and others athletes who would be participating in the forth-coming Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
