As a student of the University of Maiduguri lies critically ill, the President of the Student Union Government (SUG), Comrade Allamin Kamselem Alkali, has urged the security agencies to identify the culprits and ensure justice.

Daily Trust learnt Monday night that suspected tricycle riders on Friday attacked Fatima Abu Usman, a final year student of Nursing Department of the university, disfiguring her.

A statement issued by SUG Public Relations Officer, Cmrd. Muhammad Sanda Umar, said, “We as the students’ regulatory body of the Unimaid strongly condemn this and we urge the Borno State Police Command to bring the perpetrators to book.”

Also, the Executive Director of the Network of Civil Society Organizations Borno State, Amb. Ahmed Shehu, condemned the incident and prayed for speedy recovery of the victim.

“What a cruel world! May God reveal the perpetrators of this act and heal her,” Shehu wrote.

It was gathered that Miss Fatima Habu boarded a tricycle from Students Park to Bags Road where she was abducted by two men on a tricycle who dispossessed her of her phone and other valuables, bathed her with acid and dumped her as she became unconscious.

A source said she boarded the Keke NAPEP ‘in broad day light’ in front of the First Bank Plc after she emerged from the bank. “She boarded a commercial tricycle to Baga Road, only to be found later at the Railway Bayan Quarters area, bathed with a substance suspected to be acid,” the source said.
