Obiano nominates commissioners with portfolios
The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has sent a list of 19 nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly for consideration as commissioners.
The governor attached portfolio to each name.
This came after last Monday’s inauguration of his principal officers.
In the new list, eight former commissioners were retained while 11 new names made surprise entrance.
The returnee commissioners are Dr Uju Nwogu (Anaocha), former commissioner for Sports and Youth Empowerment, but designated for the Ministry of Justice; Hon Ifeatu Onejeme (Awka South) who retains his position as the Commissioner for Finance; Hon Mark Okoye (Dunukofia) Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget and Hon Greg Obi (Nnewi South), Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Other returnee commissioners are Dr Joe Akabuike (Orumba North), Health; Hon Obi Nwankwo (Awkak South), Public Utilities; Hon Afam Mbanefo (Nnewi North) Agriculture and Prof Kate Omenugha (Idemili South), Basic Education.
New entrants include Mr. C. Don Adinuba (Ihiala), Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment; Engr Marcel Ifejiofor (Anambra East), Commissioner for Works; Nnamdi Onukwuba (Onitsha North), Lands and Arc Mike Okonkwo (Orumba South), former MD of Awka Capital Development Authority, who will move to the Ministry of Environment.
