El-Rufai promises full security for 450 golfers at Kadinvest tourney

-

Come Tuesday, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai will tee off the 2nd Kadinvest Golf Tourney at the Kaduna Golf Club. The weeklong event will include some 150 golf professionals who will jostle for a total N7 million prize.

The Captain of the Club, Colonel Ibrahim Biu, specifically said that Governor El-Rufai has assured that close to 500 golfers coming from across the country to participate in the historic event happening some two decades since Kaduna witnessed big golf game will be adequately protected.

“Kaduna is peaceful”, Biu mentioned. “But our Governor is not taking chances. This is a big golf event since 1998 when I served as Competition Secretary. We are expecting a huge crowd and our Governor is aware of that. The Governor, who is equally the Patron of the Club, is so thrilled that numerous quality people, especially investors, will stay in Kaduna for a whole week playing golf. I am equally thrilled”.

Biu, however, mentioned that about 300 Amateurs who will feature in a two-day event after the Pros must have played for four days should not expect ‘Electronics’ as prizes. He added that he is building a new Kaduna Golf Club that must conform to all golf ethics.

“Our sponsor, Sir Lucky Omoluwa of Pinnacle Communications has provided us with enough resources for this event”, Biu assured. “We are going to place on ground quality prizes for the amateurs. The prizes will be golf related, not things like fridges and televisions as you see in golf tourneys in Nigeria. But there could be a little problem. Over 1000 Amateurs have signified interest in playing this event. I still don’t know how we can handle that. But I can assure you that we will play as many golfers as the course could take. Yes, we are prepared”.
