- By Abbas Jimoh

A member of Ndi Ebi in Ebem Community of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State has called for justice over the alleged murder of one of his family members, Abasi Ijere who was allegedly killed with five other members of the community.

Odo Ijoma told journalists yesterday in Abuja that apart from barring members of his family, their homes were destroyed.

According to him about six indigenes of Ndi Ebi in Ebem community of Ohafia, Abia State were killed on the September 22, 2016 when irate youths of the community allegedly moved to cleanse the area of an alleged gay practice.

Ijoma said that trouble started when the village elders lamented on the growing spate of gay practice alleged amongst the youths which was said to be an abomination that was bringing curses on the land and its people and in the process whipped up sentiment among the youths who in turn vowed to cleanse the community of the so called dangerous cobwebs.

“Mayhem was later unleashed on the perceived culprits who were killed with machete and sticks by some irate youths who they described as scapegoats,” he said, adding that Ijere was one of those killed in the process.
