Desist from confrontation with presidency — S/South NASS Caucus advised
South/South Legacy Forum has advised the South/South Caucus in National Assembly to desist from engaging in any form of confrontational politics with the Presidency on the issue of election reordering.
The Convener/Coordinator of the Forum, Comrade Wilfred Frank Ogbotobo, in a release, said the confrontational approach had been fully expended by the youth, in the period of militancy, to draw attention to the plight of the region.
The APC chieftain from Bayelsa State said that the present realities called for leaders to engage in building constructive political alliances which would fast-track development that would have immediate impact on lives in the region.
“Election reordering is not a priority at this point in time. Perhaps, we need to remind ourselves that we wasted six solid years prior to 2015 and we cannot do the same with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration that has demonstrated a manifest commitment to a realistic and sustainable development of the region.
“The South/South Caucus should rather work with the Presidency to ensure the immediate commencement and completion of the Ogoni Cleanup; the Bonny - Bodo Road; the Brass - Nembe Road; the Brass LNG, a Federal University of Technology at Nembe and an international Seaport at Brass in Bayelsa State,” he also said.
