- By Orkula Shaagee

@shagcy The Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical and Development Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has urged Super Eagles of Nigeria to use the friendly matches against Poland and Serbia as platforms to learn and correct future mistakes ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Fresh, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Mr Olaoluwa Aro, implore the three-time African champions to view the two matches as a wakeup call for improvements.

“The Technical Committee believes the aim of these Grades A friendlies has been achieved, such that we have been able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team.

“However, we are urging the Super Eagles led Technical crew under the Franco-German coach, Mr Gernot Rohr who just tasted his second defeats in 14 matches since he started steering the ship of the Nigerian Apex Team (Super Eagles) to use it as an avenue for error corrections.

“The plans of the coaches can change due to players’ performances, but the goals of the team should on no accounts change as we continue to prepare for the World Cup in Russia,” said Fresh.

Comrade Ahmed Fresh, A member of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Technical and Development Committee maintained that plans to play other Grade A matches remains unchanged.

“We have set our goals for the World Cup in Russia and measuring our readiness comes with Grade A friendlies like the recent matches in Poland and against Serbia in London.

“I am very sure that nothing would change our objectives as regards the World Cup, the NFF Technical Committee is working hard to ensure high level performance at the World Cup. So, in subsequent friendlies against England and Czech Republic Nigerians should expect a transformed Super Eagles,” Fresh maintains.

Nigeria lost 2-0 to Serbia in London on Tuesday’s night as Aleksandr Mitrovic’s brace condemned the Super Eagles to their first defeat in Pre-World Cup games at the Barnet FC, Hive Stadium. Serbia also ended Nigeria five-game unbeaten run.
