Northern youth write Senate on YouWiN, N-Power programmes
The national secretariat of Northern Youth Assembly (NYA) said it has written a letter to the Nigerian Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki on the alleged nepotism in the federal government’s YouWiN Connect and N-Power programmes.
NYA’s National President, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya and its National Secretary, Comrade Adikwu Omale Joshua, called on Saraki to as a matter of urgency address the agitated growing imbalance in YouWiN, and N-Power intervention programmes as they observed lopsided implementation to the detriment of some applicants in some states like Kano.
In Kano state, the programme has appeared to have lost its relevance, focus and direction taking into consideration the way and manner many indigenes were dropped from accessing the programmes and blatantly replaced them with others even when they gained the required pass mark, NYA claimed.
“The Northern Youth Assembly, believes in the spirit of national unity, equity and justice to all, as the tools that would continue to keep Nigeria as one united entity, it is therefore on this note, we repose an unfettered confidence in your capacity and ability to act in the face of the growing alleged inconsistencies, marginalization and injustice, permeating the programmes,” the Assembly said.
They demanded that a high powered committee be set up to investigate the activities and offices of those running the two programmes for sanity in its implementation and justice to all.
