Govs, others win anti-corruption awards

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative (ARDI) has nominated Daily Trust Newspaper published by Media Trust Limited (MTL) as the ‘Most Consistent Print Media Organizati­on in Nigeria’.

This was as President Muhammadu Buhari was listed for special recognitio­n as the ‘Best AntiCorrup­tion Fighting President’ during the upcoming maiden annual event.

Chairman Organizing Committee, 2017 ARDI Merit Award of Excellence, Mallam Kabiru Sani said yesterday in Abuja that Daily Trust was given the award due to its positive impact in the country and beyond.

He listed Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello as the nominee for the ‘Best Civil Service Reform and Best Security State Award’.

Sani said recipients of the awards would be decorated on April 27 at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre Abuja.

Lecture on the “Role of the Media in the Fight against Corruption” would be delivered by the Independen­t Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Sani listed other nominees as Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as ‘Outstandin­g Governor of the Year in Curtailing Drug Abuse’, Adamawa Governor, Senator Bindo Umaru Jibrilla ‘Media Friendly Governor of the Year’, Plateau Governor Simon Lalong ‘Prudent Governor of the Year’ and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike ‘Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t Governor of the year’.
