Obasanjo, IBB envious of Buhari – Kano APC

- From Tijjani Ibrahim, Kano

The Kano State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the recent calls by ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida on President Muhammadu Buhari to forget about seeking re-election in 2019 as “mere envy of his eight-year rolling plan.”

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Kano State Deputy Chairman of the party, Hon. Shehu Maigari.

The APC said the failure of the past leaders and their unsuccessful attempts to remain in power longer than necessary were the main reasons why they were agitating that the incumbent president should not seek reelection in 2019.

Speaking on IBB, the Kano APC said, “Nigerians will never forget the devaluation of the naira and high cost of living that began in 1986, the Kafanchan and Zangon Kataf crises that spread to many parts of Kaduna State which led to loss of hundreds of lives and destruction of property worth hundreds of millions of naira. They would escape our memories.”

And on Obasanjo, the APC said, “The Zaki Biam and Odi massacres and the killings in southern Plateau were tragedies that happened during the past administration and would never be forgotten.”

The statement added that President Buhari’s administration “has planned many agricultural programmes that Nigeria would be producing enough food for its citizens, as well as exporting before the end of 2022.” never
