Kebbi APC asks members to get set for congresses
The Kebbi State chapter of the APC, at the weekend, said it is in support of President Muhammadu Buhari against moves to extend the tenure of the party executives at all levels.
To this effect, the APC stakeholders in the state have asked their members to get set for congresses, saying there would be no extension of tenure for the party’s executives in the state.
The stakeholders stated this shortly after Gov. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu held a meeting behind closed doors with them at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
The Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Alhaji Sani Dododo, told journalists the stakeholders had unanimously rejected the tenure elongation adopted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in Abuja on March 20, 2019.
Dododo stated that the decision taken by the APC NEC did not go down well with many members of the party and had already resulted in intra party crisis.
He said, “Some of the aggrieved party members have taken the issue to court. This is a very serious problem for the party because it is capable of causing disunity and may further deepen intra party conflicts. Besides, it is unconstitutional and it violates rules of the party.”
He added that opportunity would be given to those who just that decamped to contest for any position of their choice, adding that they would soon commence registration of more members.
